PAPER THRESHOLD

Paper Threshold explores the point at which surface begins to become structure.

Fragments of found and aged paper, card and timber are assembled into a shallow architectural relief. Horizontal and vertical divisions establish a quiet order, while changes in depth allow individual elements to project beyond the plane of the work.

Much of the palette remains restrained and materially honest. Against this, a single fluorescent edge interrupts the composition — a narrow line of colour marking the transition between one space and another.

Viewed from the front, the work appears almost diagrammatic. From the side, its layers separate and the physical character of the construction becomes apparent. Paper is no longer simply an image-bearing surface; it becomes wall, edge, interval and threshold.

At the edge of the surface, another space begins.

Paper holds the line.
One bright edge enters the room.
Space begins to turn.
